ABC News Cuts Ties with Rob Marciano After Behavioral Complaints

ABC News senior meteorologist Rob Marciano has been let go by the network, more than a year after he was restricted from reporting inside the “Good Morning America” studio. The restriction was a result of allegations that Marciano made his colleagues uncomfortable, leading him to report from outside the show’s New York City headquarters. Dylan Byers of Puck News reported that Marciano had been fired by the network, with multiple staffers having made complaints about his behavior.

ABC News did not issue a public comment on Marciano’s firing, but there were previous reports that his ban from the “GMA” studio was due to displays of temper. According to sources, Marciano still worked inside the studio during weather reports for “World News Tonight” and last appeared on the network this past weekend. There were also rumblings that Marciano’s ban came during a difficult period as he was going through a divorce from his wife.

Sources claimed that Marciano had been found to have acted improperly and was undergoing anger management issues. There were instances where he was described as “cranky and angry,” and he made people feel uncomfortable. Despite being supposed to serve out a short ban, the executive producer of “GMA” reportedly declined to have him back, seeking a distraction-free environment.

In a statement to People magazine in July 2022, Marciano confirmed that he and his wife were divorcing after a difficult couple of years. Despite his service with ABC News since 2010, multiple complaints about his behavior ultimately led to his dismissal from the network.
