As Israel faces the horrifying terror attacks orchestrated by Hamas, it’s only natural for Americans to worry if such attacks could happen on American soil. Sadly, recent leaked data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) adds to these concerns. According to the CBP, tens of thousands of “special interest aliens,” individuals who could pose a threat to our country, have been arrested at the southern border since 2021. The alarming part is that many of them are from the Middle East.
The numbers are truly staggering. Between October 2021 and October 2023, CBP agents encountered 6,386 nationals from Afghanistan, 3,153 from Egypt, 659 from Iran, and 538 from Syria. And that’s not all. They also encountered individuals from Uzbekistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Mauritania. The CBP data doesn’t provide information on whether these individuals were removed or released into the U.S. with a court date. This leaves us wondering how many potentially dangerous individuals crossed the border undetected and are freely moving about our streets.

It’s especially troubling because we know there have been at least 1.5 million “gotaways” during Biden’s presidency. The situation is out of control, and it’s clear that terrorists are actively looking to exploit this vulnerability. The Department of Homeland Security’s threat assessment warns that terrorists and criminal actors may take advantage of the chaos at the border to enter the United States. Border Patrol sources have expressed deep concerns about the lack of vetting for individuals from “special interest countries,” as their home countries often do not share data or records with the U.S.
One cannot help but wonder why President Biden seems so disinterested in securing our borders and protecting our nation. His track record speaks for itself, from the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal to skyrocketing inflation. It almost feels intentional. We can only hope and pray that no violent individuals with a thirst for American blood slip through. But with a competent leader, we would be doing much more than just praying. We would be taking decisive action to safeguard our territorial integrity.
