In yet another attempt to spread misinformation, a misleading video circulating on Instagram falsely claims that President Joe Biden has been impeached. The video, posted by user @offaxisgto, allegedly shows members of Congress voting to impeach Biden, but the truth is far from what this video suggests.

The video, which has been shared extensively on social media, is not recent. In fact, it was taken back in June of 2023, and it simply shows a vote being taken on the house floor. The text overlaid on the video, which reads “BREAKING – Biden has been impeached in congress today. No word in mainstream. Mountains of evidence being sent over to congress,” is misleading at best.
While it is true that an impeachment inquiry into Biden has been ongoing since September, the claims made in the video are false. Despite Republican demands for Biden to provide evidence regarding a payment from his brother James, which was alleged to be a loan repayment, there is no evidence to suggest that Biden has been impeached as of October 2023.
It is important to remember that these types of misleading videos serve no purpose other than to sow confusion and further divide us as a nation. The impeachment process is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly or used as a tool for political manipulation.
