Biden’s Baltimore Jibe Highlights Democrats’ Double Standards on Political Rhetoric

In a recent display of partisan fervor, President Joe Biden found himself channeling his inner attack dog during a visit to Baltimore. In an effort to stir the pot, Biden remarked that he would “like to take that guy for a swim” in reference to none other than former President Donald Trump. This statement, coming from the leader of a party that prides itself as the guardian of democracy, raises eyebrows about the lengths to which Democrats will go to villainize their opponents. If anyone doubted the increasingly incendiary language from prominent Democrats, this serves as a clear example.

This kind of rhetoric is hardly an isolated incident. Trump has recently endured a string of assassination attempts, which many fear could be exacerbated by the reckless statements of figures like Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The Democrats, who stress that every word from the president should be treated with seriousness, seem to be playing a dangerous game. Strangely, the former president’s life seems to be fair game for derision, rather than an issue to tread carefully around. One has to wonder how the same party that perpetually screams about political violence can so casually toss around inflammatory language.

Biden’s comments also raised eyebrows after his Justice Department managed to launch a veritable barrage of indictments against Trump as it became clear that he was gearing up to run for the Republican nomination. This timing certainly raises questions about the motivations behind the legal actions and indicates just how far Democrats are willing to stretch their influence to block their most significant rival. After all, it’s not exactly a secret that the party has tried to ensure Trump’s silencing through legal means.

In the midst of the fallout, Democrats have shown their true colors, branding Trump with buzzwords like “fascist” and likening him to dictators of the past in a desperate attempt to bolster a failing campaign. Harris’s campaign, once heralded as a “campaign of joy,” quickly morphed into something much darker, particularly after her polls tanked faster than a lead balloon. Even Gov. Tim Walz felt empowered enough to draw outrageous parallels between Trump rallies and a historical Nazi spectacle. The subsequent silence from party leaders on these ludicrous comparisons speaks volumes about the depth of their desperation.

Meanwhile, Trump has come out swinging against the Democrats’ inflammatory rhetoric, labeling it a “campaign of hate.” He pointedly criticized Harris, suggesting that her need to reference Hitler stems from her abysmal political record. With two assassination attempts in a matter of months, it’s no wonder Trump and many of his supporters argue that the Democrats’ harping on these incendiary themes is a dangerous distraction from the real issues at hand. The irony isn’t lost on anyone when the party that touts its compassion uses such vitriol against a former president, all while claiming to be the champions of civility and democracy.
