Biden’s Beach House Epiphany: Meeting with Speaker After Weeks of Silence

President Joe Biden and his administration are at it again – talking out of both sides of their mouths and playing politics with important issues. In recent weeks, their hypocrisy was on full display when it came to a failed Senate border deal and additional foreign aid for Ukraine and other allies. Biden suddenly expressed a willingness to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson after allegedly ignoring earlier requests for a one-on-one discussion.

Biden’s sudden change of heart came as he returned from a cozy weekend at his beach house in Delaware. When asked by reporters about meeting with Speaker Johnson to discuss Ukraine aid, Biden responded, “Sure, I’d be happy to meet with him if he has anything to say.” The Speaker’s spokesman welcomed the President’s newfound interest in a meeting but pointed out that the request had been lingering for weeks without a response.

Just days before this sudden willingness to meet, Speaker Johnson had lamented the White House’s refusal to grant him an audience. Despite Johnson’s repeated attempts to secure a meeting with Biden to address crucial issues like border security and national security, the White House had seemed uninterested. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre even dismissed the need for further talks, claiming that the Speaker had already been given viable solutions that he chose to reject.

The real question now is whether Biden will actually follow through on his offer to meet with Johnson. The issues on the table, such as the allocation of massive amounts of taxpayer money for Ukraine and the ongoing crisis at the border, deserve serious attention. However, it remains to be seen if Biden’s sudden willingness to meet is genuine or just another political stunt.

On the border security front, Speaker Johnson and House Republicans rightly stood firm against a weak Senate proposal that would have done little to stem the flow of illegal migrants and solidify Biden’s disastrous “open borders” agenda. It’s time for real solutions and meaningful action to address these critical issues, rather than just empty promises and political posturing.
