At the Kennedy Center, actor and celebrity Chris Rock made a bold statement in support of the president, arguing that any attempt to indict Trump would only make him more popular and garner more support for his 2024 presidential campaign. Rock’s comments were met with laughter from the crowd, which included none other than Nancy Pelosi according to the DailyMail.

Rock’s comments come in light of the news that law enforcement agencies are conducting preliminary security assessments and discussing potential security plans around the Manhattan Criminal Court in case Trump is charged in connection with an alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. The payment was made by Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen in 2016, just before the US presidential election.
The investigation into the alleged hush money payment has been ongoing since 2018, and while federal prosecutors in New York announced that they had closed the investigation without bringing any charges against Trump or anyone else involved in the matter, speculation remains that Trump could potentially face charges if he was no longer president.
Elon Musk has also come out in support of Trump, tweeting that “If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory.” Trump himself has also defended himself against the indictment, noting on Truth Social that District Attorney Alvin Bragg received in excess of one million dollars from Radical Left Enemy of ‘TRUMP,’ George Soros.
It is clear that conservative Republicans are standing behind President Donald Trump in the face of potential indictment.
