In a shocking turn of events, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, has announced the indictment of two Republican election officials who dared to question the integrity of the election process. Peggy Judd and Terry Crosby, two dedicated supervisors in Cochise County, have been charged with conspiracy and election interference for simply suggesting a hand-count of the county’s ballots. Can you believe it? These officials were just trying to ensure a fair and accurate election, but apparently, that’s a crime now.
It’s worth noting that Judd and Crosby had legitimate concerns about the reliability of the machines used in Maricopa County. This is not some baseless conspiracy theory; there have been well-documented issues with those machines. But instead of investigating those concerns, Attorney General Mayes chose to ignore them and punish these Republicans for daring to question the status quo. It’s a sad day for democracy when election officials are silenced and punished for wanting to ensure free and fair elections.

Mayes’ office released a statement claiming that these Republicans were undermining our democracy. But what about the Democrats who constantly threaten and intimidate election officials who don’t certify elections? It’s a double standard, plain and simple. If anyone is undermining our democracy, it’s those who refuse to address legitimate concerns and instead resort to threats and legal action.
Interestingly enough, Attorney General Mayes narrowly won her own election in 2022. Perhaps she’s feeling a little insecure and wants to make an example out of these Republicans to solidify her own power. This is nothing but a brazen abuse of authority and a clear attempt to silence anyone who dares to question the outcome of an election.
One would think that in a fair and just legal system, these officials would be given the opportunity to defend themselves. But it seems that’s not the case here. Judd, in her statement, expressed her disbelief at being indicted, stating that she doesn’t feel like she broke any laws. But the courts apparently have a different opinion. It’s a chilling reminder that your political affiliation can make you a target for prosecution in today’s society.
This whole situation reeks of political bias and manipulation. Arizona Democrats have a long history of threatening and imprisoning election officials who don’t comply with their demands. Just look at Katie Hobbs, the current governor, who vowed to arrest and imprison members of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors for simply wanting to take the time to review election irregularities and conduct public hearings. It’s an absolute travesty that these officials are being punished for trying to uphold the integrity of our elections.
In the end, it’s clear that this indictment is nothing more than a political witch hunt designed to punish Republicans for daring to question the establishment. But we must not let them silence us. We must continue to fight for transparency, accountability, and the truth. Our democracy depends on it.
