Well, well, well, it looks like the good ol’ IRS has done it again! This time, they’ve got the attention of not one, not two, but three Republican lawmakers from the great state of Arizona. U.S. Reps. David Schweikert, Greg Stanton, and Juan Ciscomani are banding together to take on the big, bad IRS for their outrageous decision to tax the “Arizona Families Tax Rebate.”

These brave lawmakers have fired off a letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel, demanding that the IRS back off and stop squeezing hard-working Arizonans for every penny they’ve got. And you know what? They’ve got a point! Taxpayers in Arizona are already feeling the squeeze, and now they’re being hit with 1099-MISC forms for the rebate they received. It’s like the IRS is double-dipping into their pockets!
But that’s not all – these lawmakers are calling out the IRS for their lack of transparency and poor decision-making. They’ve exposed the IRS for dropping the bombshell news in a shady video meeting and then dragging their feet to provide a written explanation. It’s like they’re trying to pull a fast one on the good people of Arizona!
And let’s not forget about Arizona’s Attorney General Kris Mayes, who’s not taking this lying down. She’s gone and filed a lawsuit against the IRS, calling their taxation “unlawful” and “arbitrary and discriminatory.” You go, Attorney General Mayes! Someone’s got to stand up for the hard-working folks of Arizona who just want to keep their hard-earned cash in their wallets.
But the real kicker? These feisty lawmakers estimate that the IRS’s greedy grab for the Arizona Families Tax Rebate could result in a whopping $20.8 million more in their pockets. That’s $20.8 million that should be staying right where it belongs – with the people of Arizona!
