In a recent interview on “Meet the Press,” California Governor Gavin Newsom discussed the Democratic Party’s position on abortion. The interview began with host Chuck Todd quoting Newsom’s frustration from last year, when the Dobbs v. Jackson decision was leaked before it officially overturned Roe v. Wade. In response, Newsom expressed his disappointment with his own party’s lack of action on the issue.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Newsom now claims that the Democratic Party is back on track when it comes to abortion. He argues that they have a clear message and are getting back on the offensive. Newsom also acknowledged the impact of abortion on recent elections, citing examples like Ohio’s failed Amendment 1 and the election of a pro-abortion judge in Wisconsin. These instances demonstrate the pro-choice movement’s growing influence and should serve as a warning to pro-life Americans.

While Newsom claims that the Democratic Party is focused on democracy and freedom, it is evident that their approach to abortion is extreme. Most Americans do not support unlimited abortion throughout pregnancy, yet virtually all congressional Democrats support legislation that would expand Roe v. Wade and allow late-term abortions without restrictions. The party’s pollsters have even advised candidates to address the issue in a way that links it to everyday family economics and healthcare.
It is not just the Democratic Party that should concern pro-lifers, but also the Republican Party. There is division within the GOP on the issue of abortion, with some advocating for states’ rights and others calling for federal involvement. This uncertainty could weaken the Republican stance on protecting the unborn.
Democrats show no signs of backing down on abortion rights. Meanwhile, there are discussions within the Republican Party about rebranding the issue and potentially removing opposition to abortion from party platforms. This could lead to a weakening of the pro-life movement within the GOP and a further shift in favor of the Democrats’ extreme agenda.
As the 2022 elections approach, it is vital for pro-life voters to remain vigilant and support candidates who will advocate for the rights of the unborn. The future of the pro-life movement hangs in the balance, and it is imperative that conservatives stand strong in defense of life.
