A high-ranking Russian official has issued a stern warning to the West, cautioning against any attempts to help Ukraine regain control of territories currently occupied by Russia. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, has threatened Western capitals with the use of Russia’s “entire strategic arsenal” of nuclear weapons if they intervene in the ongoing conflict.

Medvedev specifically targeted Ukraine’s efforts to reclaim its U.N.-recognized national territory, which has been occupied by Russia for nearly a decade. Russia has recently amended its constitution to officially annex territories such as Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia.
