San Francisco Mayor London Breed might be facing an uphill battle to secure another term in office due to the quirky ranked-choice voting system, as per a recent poll by the San Francisco Chronicle, keeping conservatives on their toes!
Ranked-Choice Voting Could Spell ‘Serious Trouble’ For London Breed’s Reelection, Poll Finds https://t.co/tpeyuVbeZ6

This fancy voting method could lead to some voters’ second or third choices playing a significant role in deciding the winner, causing quite the hullabaloo among the undecided folks making up 40% of the electorate. Seems like former mayor Mark Farrell is winning hearts in the initial rounds of this voting extravaganza, potentially stirring up some trouble for Mayor Breed.
The poll, conducted by the Chronicle, indicates that Farrell and Levi Strauss heir Daniel Lurie are catching voters’ eyes more than London Breed for their second-choice picks. Almost 1 in 3 likely voters are even planning to rank Breed lowest among the leading candidates, making her journey to reelection a bumpy ride indeed.
With nearly three-fourths of the surveyed voters not approving of how Breed has been managing things in the city, it’s clear that the conservative wind might be blowing in a different direction. And let’s not forget how Breed jumped on the “defund the police” bandwagon during the 2020 hullabaloo, only to do a quick 180 as the moderates Safai and Lurie swooped in to shake things up.
