In a bold move, Texas Republican Congressman Chip Roy is challenging his fellow GOP members to take a stand against the Biden administration’s failure to address the border crisis. With federal government funding set to expire at the end of September 2023, Roy and 14 other Texas representatives are demanding that funding for the Department of Homeland Security be halted until action is taken.
And let me tell you, folks, this demand is long overdue. The State of Texas is shouldering the burden of a national crisis caused by President Biden’s reckless actions. Criminal cartels are running amok at the border, endangering the lives of innocent Texans. Migrants are dying on Texas ranches, and children are being enslaved in the horrific sex-trafficking trade. It’s an absolute tragedy, and it’s time for someone to hold the Biden administration accountable.
But it doesn’t stop there, my friends. Our communities are being inundated with dangerous fentanyl pouring in through an open border. China and the cartels are laughing all the way to the bank while 200 Americans die every single day from this deadly drug. It’s an absolute disgrace that the Biden administration turns a blind eye to this crisis.
The Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, has been forced to step up and fill in the gaps left by the federal government’s incompetence, using billions of dollars from the state’s limited resources. And what does he get in return? A slap in the face. Instead of reimbursing Texas for its life-saving efforts, the Biden administration has the audacity to sue our state, citing “humanitarian concerns.” Well, if they cared about true humanitarian concerns, they would secure our border instead of wasting time on lawsuits.
Congressman Roy summed it up perfectly when he said, “No member of Congress should agree to fund a federal agency at war with his state and people.” And he’s absolutely right. We have a moral obligation to protect our states, our nation, and most importantly, the vulnerable migrant children who are being abused as a result of the disaster unfolding at our southern border.
So, fellow conservatives, let’s stand with Congressman Roy and his Texas colleagues. No border security, no funding. It’s time to send a clear message to the Biden administration that their failure to address the border crisis will not be tolerated. Our nation’s security and the lives of our citizens are at stake. Let’s hold them accountable and demand action.
