Trump Backs Indicted Texas Rep Cuellar, Slams Biden Admin Tactics

Former President Donald Trump has expressed support for Democratic Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar, who was recently indicted on federal charges. The Department of Justice alleged that Cuellar and his wife accepted nearly $600,000 in bribes from an Azerbaijan-controlled energy company and a Mexican bank over a seven-year period. Cuellar and his wife have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Trump took to Truth Social to assert that Cuellar was indicted because he opposed President Biden’s border policies. He condemned the Biden administration, accusing them of using the FBI and DOJ to target Cuellar for his stance on border control. Trump emphasized that he believed Cuellar was being unfairly treated and criticized the alleged actions of the Biden administration, calling them “a bunch of D.C. Thugs.”

The indictment against Cuellar includes charges such as conspiracy to commit bribery, bribery of a federal official, wire fraud, money laundering, and acting as foreign agents. Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota has called for Cuellar’s resignation in light of the charges. However, Cuellar has maintained his innocence, stating that he and his wife have done nothing wrong and are committed to serving the people of South Texas.

Cuellar’s home and campaign office were reportedly raided by federal agents in January 2022. Despite the indictment, Cuellar has affirmed his intention to run for another term in Congress. He has been representing Texas’ 28th Congressional District since 2004 and narrowly won the 2022 primary election.

The Western Journal, a conservative news outlet, highlighted Cuellar’s assertion of innocence and continued determination to serve in Congress. They also emphasized their opposition to Big Tech and urged readers to support their fight against censorship and election interference.
