Former President Donald Trump has taken the witness stand in a civil trial in Manhattan, where he is facing a case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump’s two eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, have already testified in the case. Last month, Trump violated a gag order by referencing a law clerk named Allison Greenfield, leading to his appearance in court. The judge, Arthur Engoron, asked Trump who he was referring to when he mentioned a “very partisan judge with a person who’s very partisan sitting alongside him.” Trump said he was talking about his former attorney, Michael Cohen, who is testifying against him, as well as Engoron himself. The judge did not believe Trump’s denial and fined him $10,000. As a conservative republican news writer, I believe this case is yet another example of the unfair treatment and bias against Trump. It’s clear that the judge has a personal vendetta against him and is willing to violate his rights and impose heavy fines. It’s a sad state of affairs when even a former president is not afforded a fair trial.
Donald Trump Takes Witness Stand in New York Civil Trial,
We all know this is a kangaroo court, especially when the DA was elected she said, Her one goal in life was to convict Donald Trump of anything,
She’s just a racist. https://t.co/8vahULZqGr— ✨?Jackie Coco? (@JackieC49305942) November 6, 2023
During the trial, a Breitbart News report on Greenfield’s alleged violation of judicial rules regarding political donations was brought up. The defense team suggested that this report could warrant a mistrial. However, the judge responded dismissively and even mocked the mention of Breitbart News, eliciting audible scoffs from the courtroom. This is a clear display of bias from the judge, as he refuses to take seriously any information that doesn’t align with his own beliefs. How can we expect a fair and impartial trial when the judge is so openly dismissive of evidence that doesn’t support his agenda? It’s a disgrace.
Furthermore, the judge placed a gag order on Trump’s attorneys, prohibiting them from referencing “confidential communications” between him and his staff. If they violate this order, the legal team will face “serious sanctions.” This is yet another unfair restriction imposed on Trump and his defense, limiting their ability to effectively present their case. It’s a clear violation of their First Amendment rights and yet another example of the bias against Trump in this trial. As a conservative republican news writer, I am appalled by the judge’s actions and the blatant disregard for justice in this case. It’s a sad day for our legal system when a former president is treated with such hostility and unfairness.
