Hey there, conservatives! Buckle up, because it looks like the E. Jean Carroll drama with former President Donald Trump is far from over. I know, I know, we were all hoping that this chapter would come to a close, but no such luck. It seems like turnabout is fair play, as Trump is now countersuing Carroll for defamation.
Let’s take a little walk down memory lane to fully understand this mess. Carroll first sued Trump back in 2019 for defamation after she claimed that he sexually assaulted her in a New York department store in the ’90s. Of course, Trump denied the allegations and even said Carroll wasn’t his “type.” Classic Trump, always one for a witty comeback. And let’s not forget, these statements were made while he was still the President, so the Department of Justice thought it’d be a good idea to jump in and defend Trump. But guess what? The judge wasn’t having it. Sorry, DOJ, no free pass for you.
Fast forward to 2022, Carroll decided to up the ante and sued Trump again, this time adding rape to the mix. She alleged that Trump not only sexually abused her but also defamed her by calling her a liar. The case went to trial in May 2023, and guess what? Trump was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation. Tough break, Mr. Trump. But don’t worry, the jury didn’t think he was guilty of rape. Small victories, right?
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, Carroll took to CNN the very next day to claim that Trump did, in fact, rape her. Talk about a curveball. But Trump wasn’t going down without a fight. He went right back to CNN and called Carroll’s accusations completely made-up, and even threw in a “whack job” for good measure. Gotta love his way with words.
Now, in a surprising twist, Trump has fired back with a counterclaim in the 2019 suit. He’s accusing Carroll of defamation for her CNN appearance and argues that she made “false statements with actual malice and ill will.” Ouch, Carroll. Seems like Trump isn’t one to let a slanderous accusation slide.
But wait, it gets even juicier. The Department of Justice, who once tried to come to Trump’s defense, is now scrambling to distance itself from this whole mess. I can’t say I blame them. Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place.

So, ladies and gentlemen, strap in, because the Trump vs. Carroll saga is here to stay. Who knows what will happen next? All I can say is, for a guy who wasn’t known for being presidential, Trump sure knows how to keep things interesting.
