Conservatives should stop acting modest and call this what it is — a full-court press to fire up the base and drive votes.
MAGA Is Back on College Campuses
Across campuses this semester, conservative groups have been louder and more visible. College Republicans and Turning Point USA chapters are organizing, students are posting viral content, and yes — you’re seeing red hats again. Some of this new energy grew out of last year’s tragedy surrounding the killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, which hardened and rallied many young conservatives. Add in social media campaigns and packed campus events, and you have a visible resurgence that media outlets can’t entirely ignore.
Why This Moment Matters for Turnout
This isn’t just about cool photos or viral posts. It’s about converting noise into votes. The RNC’s convention and the campus wave are meant to work together: rallies and big-name speeches create excitement, while freshman-year activists spread that excitement in dorms and dining halls. The Department of Education push on higher-education reforms under Education Secretary Linda McMahon has also sharpened the debate on campus, which nudges students to choose a side instead of staying home. Critics will whine that kids wear hats and don’t register to vote — fair point — but energy is the first step toward ballots.
