Chaos erupted on Capitol Hill as eight Republican representatives shockingly sided with Democrats to remove Kevin McCarthy from his position as House Speaker. But fear not, conservative patriots, because this week brings us some much-needed stability with the election of Louisiana Republican Rep. Mike Johnson as the House’s 56th speaker.
In a decisive vote of 220 to 209, Johnson defeated Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Prior to Johnson’s victory, Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan and Minnesota Republican Rep. Tom Emmer had tried and failed to secure the coveted position. Thank goodness they didn’t succeed, because Johnson is the true champion we need!

After taking his oath of office, Johnson delivered an uplifting speech, exclaiming, “We’re in the majority right now.” He acknowledged the challenges they had faced but emphasized that it had only made them stronger. He promised to ensure that the House delivers results and inspires change for the American people. Trust will be restored, and a comprehensive conservative policy agenda will be advanced. Finally, a speaker who understands what the American people truly want!
Speaking before the House on a bipartisan resolution supporting Israel, Johnson made it clear that the drama is over and the People’s House is back in business. Lessons have been learned, and their adversaries should take note that this body of lawmakers is reporting for duty. Our enemies of freedom will hear us loud and clear.
