However, this claim is debunked as the actual inflation rate at that time was just 1.4 percent. The president has continued to promote this falsehood, even touting that his administration has effectively addressed inflation and improved the economy.

Fact-checkers have found that White House officials defend Biden’s statement by suggesting that the factors contributing to the 9 percent inflation in mid-2022 were already in place when he became president. Nevertheless, this reasoning does not align with the actual data.
Moreover, the president’s remarks about job creation and wages have also been questioned. Critics argue that the job creation during Biden’s term is largely due to recovering from the pandemic and that wages have not kept up with inflation.
This controversy has emerged amid the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, which revealed a 3.4 percent annual increase in consumer prices, far exceeding the Federal Reserve’s target of 2.0 percent. The Core CPI, which excludes food and energy, also showed a significant uptick.
The growing skepticism surrounding President Biden’s economic claims indicates a potential issue of credibility and trust among the American public. Various polls indicate that citizens have low confidence in his handling of the economy and inflation, with many favoring former President Trump’s approach to these economic matters.
