The Biden Administration’s immigration policies are once again under scrutiny as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to distribute photo ID cards to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens before releasing them into the United States, according to a report from Fox News. The ID cards, part of the Secure Docket Program initiated by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), are meant to provide a consistent and secure form of documentation for provisionally released noncitizens.
While the Biden Administration argues that these ID cards will help track migrants and improve document accessibility, critics see this as yet another incentive for illegal immigration. It’s no secret that a significant percentage of released migrants fail to appear for their scheduled court dates. Instead of focusing on enforcing immigration laws, ICE seems to be shifting its role towards providing social services.

RJ Hauman, president of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), expressed his frustration with ICE’s direction, stating, “ICE should be arresting, detaining, and removing those who come here illegally, not doling out social services.” Hauman calls for Congress to step in and put an end to these open-border policies that go against the agency’s mission.
Furthermore, the distribution of these ID cards raises concerns about the overwhelmed state of the southern border. Under the Biden Administration, illegal border crossings have hit record levels, with nearly two million illegal aliens entering the United States each year. This influx is a direct result of the lack of enforcement and the parole program implemented by ICE.
John Fabbricatore, a former ICE official and member of NICE’s advisory board, calls this program a “normalization of illegal immigration.” It’s clear that the Biden Administration’s lax immigration policies are only exacerbating the crisis at the border. It’s time for the government to prioritize law enforcement and put an end to these misguided programs that only encourage more illegal immigration.
