Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York City and lawyer for President Donald Trump, voluntarily surrendered himself to Georgia prosecutors on Wednesday. He is facing charges related to an alleged scheme to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, along with Trump and 17 others. Giuliani confidently proclaimed his innocence, stating that he is defending the rights of all Americans, just as he did during his time as a United States Attorney. He boasted about his previous achievements, such as taking down the mafia and making New York City the safest city in America. Giuliani believes that his and Trump’s rights to counsel are being destroyed by their enemies.

As Giuliani prepares to face Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team, it is worth noting that the charges against him include racketeering and conspiracy, which are often used in cases involving mobsters and criminal enterprises. Trump himself has announced that he will also be willingly arrested, showing his loyalty to his former lawyer. Giuliani can take solace in the fact that Trump’s attack dog lawyers will be by his side, fighting to protect their fellow defendant. Some of Trump’s attorneys, like Alina Habba, have been fervently denouncing the Georgia investigation as an act of desperation and ridiculing the federal election fraud case against Trump as based on ridiculous legal arguments.

The legal battle ahead will be a test of DA Willis’ political instincts, as she will face scrutiny in the court of public opinion. President Trump has already accused her of having an affair with a gang leader she later prosecuted, further adding fuel to the fire. In fact, a Georgia state senator has even called for an emergency session to review Willis’ prosecutorial conduct, a potential precursor to impeachment proceedings. It remains to be seen whether these allegations will impact the case against Giuliani and the other defendants. However, with Trump’s support and high-profile defense team, Giuliani may have a fighting chance against the charges brought against him.
