Iran Strikes Again: 7 Missiles Launched at US Base

The United States suffered yet another attack by the Iranian military on Friday, as seven missiles were fired at an American base near the Syrian city of Hasaka. This counterstrike came after President Joe Biden authorized a retaliatory air strike, following the killing of a US contractor by an Iranian drone in a previous attack. Though initial assessments confirmed no casualties or damage to the base, this attack is a reminder that Iran remains a serious threat to the safety and security of Americans.

The fact that the drone used in the attack originated from Iran was confirmed by U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in a statement. In response, the United States conducted precision airstrikes against facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which was also responsible for previous attacks against Coalition forces in Syria. The airstrikes were not meant to escalate conflict but were a proportionate response intended to protect American personnel and assets.

Despite the measured response from the United States, it is important to realize that Iran continues to support paramilitary forces in the region with the aim of harming Americans. White House defense spokesman John Kirby stated that Iran and its proxy forces often “answer right back” with “ineffective rocket fire,” but this should not be taken lightly. Iran’s leaders should know that they will face consequences for their actions.

As conservatives, we must support a strong response to Iran’s hostile actions against the United States. President Biden should continue to take a firm stance against Iran, and not allow them to get away with attacking Americans. We cannot afford to be weak on national security, and Iran must learn that America will not tolerate any further attacks.
