Brown did not utter a racial slur, curse word, or any misogynistic comments. Instead, he had the audacity to speak the truth about the Orioles’ abysmal record against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Let’s put this into perspective. The Orioles, a team that has been historically irrelevant, have suddenly become a force to be reckoned with in the 2023 baseball season. With the best record in the American League and the second-best record in all of baseball, the Orioles are defying expectations. And they’re doing it with one of the lowest payrolls in the league. It’s a triumph of smart drafting, player development, and shrewd trading.

The truth is apparently too much for the Orioles ownership to handle. It speaks volumes about the thin skin of owner Peter Angelos that he would silence an announcer for speaking the truth. Maybe Angelos should focus on improving his team’s performance instead of trying to control the narrative.
In other news, college football is going through some major conference shakeups. It seems that the pursuit of money has taken precedence over regional rivalries and tradition. Schools are switching conferences left and right, all in the name of the almighty dollar. The 2023 college football season is already seeing a multitude of matchups that will never happen again. It’s enough to give you a headache.

These athletes have to juggle their sports commitments with their education, and now they may have to travel even greater distances for road games. It’s a sad state of affairs when the pursuit of money outweighs the importance of education.

It’s a shame that the truth is seen as a punishable offense, while money takes precedence over tradition and education. Maybe it’s time for a reality check and a return to the values that made sports great in the first place.
