Rising Costs Erode American Dream Under Biden Economy

The American Dream means different things to different people. For the Founders, it meant a place to live in freedom to enjoy life and pursue their own goals. It still means that for millions of people around the world living under oppressive regimes. But, it’s evolved over time to include other aspirations, like marriage, home ownership, and a comfortable retirement.

But, many Americans are finding it harder to achieve these dreams because of rising expenses and stagnant wages. For the past 50 years, wages haven’t kept up with the cost of living, making it increasingly difficult for families to attain a middle-class lifestyle. In President Joe Biden’s economy, expenses are continuing to rise faster than wages.

A recent report found that all 50 states now require a family of four to have a household income of more than $100,000 just to be able to cover essential expenses and save for retirement. And 38 of the 50 states required household incomes of higher than $140,000. This means that making ends meet is becoming more and more challenging for many families, even for those earning six-figure salaries.

Debt is a major reason for the increasing financial strain on families, as many people making well over six figures are still living paycheck to paycheck. According to the report, states like Hawaii, California, Massachusetts, and Washington require household incomes of over $200,000 to live comfortably.

When looking at political trends, it’s clear that the majority of the most expensive states voted for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in 2020. The expensive consequences of leftist ideas have become more evident in the cost of living in these states.

As expenses continue to rise, it’s important for Americans to consider how their votes impact their financial wellbeing. Ideas have consequences, and voting accordingly can make a difference in the affordability of the American Dream.
