Applicants must have heating or ventilation expenses and a gross monthly income of less than 150% of the federal poverty level to be eligible for the program. This implies that a household of one person is limited to earning $1,822 per month, while a household of twenty people is restricted to earning $13,922 per month.
After receiving approval, LIHEAP payments are eligible for utilization for an array of objectives, encompassing charges for furnace restarts, late payments, delivery, installation, connection, or reconnection. In addition to covering heating expenses, the funds provide desperately needed assistance to struggling families.
Residents may submit an application in person or by visiting their local departments of social services. In December, the benefits will be disbursed, providing families with a timely assistance to maintain warmth throughout the winter season.
