Biden DHS Pilot Program Lets Migrants Disappear From ICE Tracking

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are at it again, this time with their Department of Homeland Security (DHS) concocting a scheme so absurdly lax that it’s almost comical. Critics have labeled it a “ghost mode operation,” allowing migrants who have been released from federal custody to effectively disappear—at least from the watchful eyes of ICE agents. While officials tout the pilot program as a method to simplify the reporting process for migrants, many see it as yet another unfortunate investment in a system that is already riddled with holes.

Under this brilliant initiative run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), migrants will no longer need to show up in person to check in but can instead do so via their cellphones or computers. This creative decision raises eyebrows since GPS data, which would actually help track these individuals, isn’t available if they log in through a computer. As if that wasn’t enough of an oversight, there are reportedly no repercussions for migrants who decide not to bother checking in at all. Honestly, what’s next? A system that sends them reminder texts?

RJ Hauman, president of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), has made no secret of his discontent. He points out the sheer idiocy of allowing many of these illegal immigrants to simply vanish into thin air, making it nearly impossible for ICE agents to find them if they magically decide to cut and run. It’s almost as if this administration wants to turn the United States into a sanctuary for anyone looking for a way to skirt the law.

The numbers speak volumes about how serious—or irresponsible—DHS is about securing the nation. Currently, only about 150 migrants are enrolled in this questionable program, while the agency has the capacity to handle a sprawling 100,000. Meanwhile, ICE agents have expressed dismay over their lack of involvement in crafting the program, which at its heart seems to favor the migrants’ comfort rather than adhering to the law enforcement mission ICE was designed for.

While this program might be one of the more outlandish Biden-era initiatives, it’s not the only one. The administration has also been dabbling with plans to issue ID cards to migrants—forget the validity of citizenship, everyone deserves to fly, it seems. With the hope of making airport screening a breeze for migrants, this brainchild has already cost taxpayers around $3 million, and shockingly, it hasn’t even launched yet.

Critics argue that instead of caring for those who have no legal right to be here, the administration should focus on enhancing the detention and deportation capabilities of ICE, which is painfully lacking. With the current system barely able to handle the influx of illegal crossings, it seems “ghost mode” operations may leave American security hanging in the balance. The call for promoting a serious crackdown on illegal immigration has never been clearer, but whether the Biden-Harris administration is listening remains to be seen.
