If you thought the Democrats already hit an all-time low in their quest for electoral victories, you ain’t seen nothing yet. According to NBC News, some Florida democrats want to see retired NBA star Dwyane Wade run against Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott. What’s next, LeBron James running for the White House? Come on, democrats! First, you tried to win with celebs like AOC and Beto O’Rourke, and look where that got us. Now, you’re going after a retired basketball player? It seems like the Florida Democratic Party is all out of fresh ideas and candidates.
The Florida party is in an utter shambles after suffering huge losses to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who won by a whopping 19 points. And now, they believe that the “leadership past” of a basketball player could be the key to winning future elections. This is all part of the left’s continuing attempts to use sports to try and gain political leverage.

It doesn’t help Wade’s cause that he recently drew attention for leaving Florida over the state’s restrictions on child gender transitions. So, according to the left’s twisted logic, that apparently makes him a good choice to take on Rick Scott? It seems like the Florida Democratic Party is taking a page out of the California Democrats’ book by choosing identity politics over common sense.
But wait, there’s more! The Florida Democrats are also considering retired NBA player Grant Hill as a possible candidate. Democrat donor John Morgan has even spoken with him about running for office. But, let’s be real, Democrats, these guys haven’t got a shot against Scott. Hill might be the smartest guy in the room, but he’ll get smoked if he takes on Scott in an election.
These desperate and pathetic attempts by the left to use sports and fame as a platform for political leverage only speaks to the fact that they have lost touch with reality. There is simply no way a retired basketball player, no matter how good they were, is going to unseat a sitting senator and important Republican leader like Rick Scott. With this type of strategy, it’s no wonder the left continues to lose elections.
