In a new batch of emails, it appears that there was coordination between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and David Weiss, the Special Counsel overseeing the Hunter Biden case. This revelation raises questions about the impartiality and independence of the DOJ under Merrick Garland.
Garland, who previously served as Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, has repeatedly claimed that his decisions as Attorney General are driven by the rule of law and fairness. However, these emails suggest that Garland’s principles are guided by politics rather than a genuine commitment to upholding the rule of law.
According to whistleblowers, Weiss falsely told IRS agents that he had requested special counsel status and was denied. However, in an effort to defuse the issue, Garland appointed Weiss as special counsel, allowing Democrats to claim that there is now an independent investigation. This move also potentially shields Weiss from Congressional inquiry, as he can now claim that he cannot answer questions about an ongoing investigation.
The new emails obtained by the Heritage Foundation show clear coordination between Weiss’s office and the DOJ, contradicting Garland’s claim that Weiss has the independence to bring whatever charges he wants. This raises concerns about the veracity of previous exchanges between Weiss and Congressman Jim Jordan regarding the removal of IRS whistleblowers from the Hunter Biden investigation.
This latest development is just the tip of the iceberg, as the DOJ has yet to produce all related documents in response to Jordan’s correspondence. The next batch is due by October 31st. It remains to be seen if these documents will reveal further evidence of political collusion between the DOJ and Weiss that even Democrats will struggle to explain away.
So much for Garland’s claim of upholding the rule of law and treating all Americans fairly. It’s clear that his actions are motivated by partisan politics, undermining the integrity of the DOJ. This is yet another example of the deep-rooted corruption within the Biden administration.
