Hunter Biden was first charged on June 20, 2023, with a number of gun and tax-related crimes. Even though plea deals and diversion agreements were offered to settle the case before it went to trial, all of them were eventually dropped, the case has still not been settled.
Under the Speedy Trial Act, a person must be indicted within 30 days of being arrested or having a notice served on them. In the case of Hunter Biden, the court order was carried out on June 23, 2023. Due to some exceptions, the story says that the Speedy Trial Act only says that two days have passed. So, the government has until Friday, September 29, 2023, to get a charge from a grand jury.
